Important tips for you
If your AC power adapter stops working, it's better to eliminate the most obvious reasons before starting to troubleshoot. Make sure that the outlet is live by plugging in some another device. Verify that the plug is securely in the wall and that the input is tightly in the jack on your computer's end. Also, check that the prongs on the plug end are not broken inside the plastic casing and have come loose.
Power brick issue
Once you are sure that the outlet is working correctly, disconnect the power adapter from the computer and plug it straight into the wall, bypassing any power strips. Your brick might have an LED light on it; when it is powered, it should turn green. If yours does not have a LED light, you should try to feel the brick for heat and vibrations that will tell you if it is receiving power. If there is no response, replace the adapter.
Once you have eliminated the reasons concerning your adapter, but still your battery won't charge then you might want to take a look at your battery. For this, first turn off the PC, remove the battery and check the connectors to ensure that they are free of damage and debris. Replace the battery and make sure it fits suitably and locks into place and then reboot your computer.
