If you thought that the South Korean electronics giant, Samsung is only into electronic consumer durables manufacturing, then wake up and smell the coffee. Your favorite brand is also the top most chip maker in the world. Well, off late, Samsung has initiated its mass production of the all new $10 Billion chip line. The basic motive behind this idea is to shoot up the company’s share in the dynamic market of flash memory chip.
The organization has already started the bulk production of the advanced DRAM(Dynamic Random Access Memory) chips, which deploy the 20-nanometer technology. The USP of these chips is the fact that they offer drastic improvements in the productivity. Moreover, it also ensures excellent energy consumption.
"We must prepare for an intensifying storm in the semiconductor industry by further enhancing our technological capabilities and expertise in order to maintain our leadership position." said Chairman Lee Kun-Hee.
Another reason for such a boost in the manufacturing is due to the huge demand for flash memory chip owing to the rise in the requirement of smartphones and tablets.
"The latest technology migration by Samsung means a wider technology gap with its rivals in Taiwan and they may even exit the market sometime early next year," Kiwoom Securities analyst Lee Jae-Yun told Dow Jones Newswires.
Samsung also has plans of raising the production of NAND flash chips in order to fulfill the rising demands and would also step ahead and develop even more advanced chips with 10 nanometer process technology in the coming year
